Voting is ongoing for the second phase of elections in West Bengal. The BJP claims that tape was used to block voting options for them in several polling booths, particularly in the Diamond Harbour constituency.

BJP officials allege that TMC stuck tape on EVM buttons to prevent votes for their candidates. Amit Malviya, BJP’s media in-charge, stated that this tactic effectively eliminated voters’ choices. The BJP has demanded re-voting at the affected booths.

TMC has denied these allegations, asserting that they are baseless and politically motivated. They accused the election commission and observers of failing to ensure fair voting conditions.

The alleged fraud has been labeled the ‘Diamond Harbour model’ by BJP representatives. Abhishek Banerjee is considered a strong candidate in the Falta area, which is part of the larger Diamond Harbour constituency.

Malviya remarked, “कई मतदान केंद्रों पर टेप का इस्तेमाल करके भाजपा को वोट देने का विकल्प खत्म कर दिया गया है, जिससे मतदाताओं को अपना विकल्प चुनने से रोका जा रहा है।” This statement highlights the gravity of their claims regarding EVM tampering.
