Lewis Hamilton’s decision to abandon the Ferrari simulator before the Canadian Grand Prix highlights his frustration with the team’s performance and preparation. Hamilton claims Ferrari is losing three to four tenths in straight line speed, which he believes impacts their competitiveness.

Hamilton finished seventh at the recent Miami Grand Prix after a collision. His position improved to sixth after Charles Leclerc received a penalty post-race. Despite finishing higher, Hamilton described the weekend as frustrating, particularly given that Ferrari delivered 11 upgrades for that race.

Hamilton stated, “Because the way we’re preparing at the moment, it’s not helping.” He also noted differences in front wing designs among competitors like Mercedes, McLaren, and Red Bull. He remarked, “Just look at everyone else’s wing and look at ours, you’ll see it looks different.” This suggests he believes aerodynamic performance is a critical factor in their current struggles.

Historically, Hamilton has excelled at this circuit, having won the Canadian Grand Prix a record-equalling seven times. However, his recent comments indicate a shift in mindset. He said, “I’m going to have a different approach in the next race.” This could signal a more aggressive strategy as he looks to improve Ferrari’s standing.

Looking ahead, Hamilton aims to enhance Ferrari’s performance before they take to the track in Canada. The team faces pressure to rectify its issues quickly if they hope to compete effectively against rivals.
