A significant temperature shift is expected across the U.S. on May 2, 2026, with warmer conditions emerging after a cooler spell. A warmer, quieter spring pattern spreads across much of the country as dry weather approaches more regions.

Temperatures will surge above average in many locations. Highs will reach the 70s and lower 80s across the central Plains and Midwest. However, the Northeast remains the coolest region, with highs mainly in the 40s and 50s.

Florida will experience unsettled weather with scattered rain and thunderstorms as a cold front passes through. Meanwhile, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will affect the interior Rockies and Southwest.

In West Michigan, temperatures will climb into the upper 40s to lower 50s—10 to 15 degrees below average for this time of year. A chance for showers is expected in West Michigan on Sunday, with highs in the upper 50s.

Tonight, temperatures in West Michigan will drop into the middle 30s under a partly cloudy sky. In Cyprus, temperatures are expected to drop significantly before stabilizing through Monday and Tuesday.

Key weather conditions:

  • Highs in the central Plains and Midwest: 70s to lower 80s
  • Northeast highs: mainly in the 40s and 50s
  • West Michigan temperatures: upper 40s to lower 50s

The next few days will bring localized rain and isolated storms in Cyprus as well. Strong winds are also expected there, with snow and sleet possibly falling in the Troodos mountains.
