Sourav Ganguly voted in the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections on April 29, 2026. He emphasized the unpredictability of the election outcome, stating that even revered figures cannot foresee the results.

Polling for the 294-member Assembly was held in two phases on April 23 and April 29. The counting of votes is scheduled for May 4.

Majority of exit polls suggest that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has an edge over the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC). Today’s Chanakya predicted BJP could get 192 seats (plus/minus 11 seats) and TMC 100 seats (plus/minus 11 seats).

By 11 am on April 29, West Bengal reported a voter turnout of 39.97%. The second phase covers 142 of the 294 Assembly seats, with approximately 3.21 crore voters eligible to cast their ballots.

Sourav Ganguly remarked, “How can I answer such a question? Only on Monday, when the ballot box opens, will we all know the answer.” He noted that in the previous phase, voting exceeded 90 percent.

The main contest in West Bengal’s elections is between TMC and BJP. This rivalry has intensified as both parties seek to secure their influence in the state.

The outcomes will depend on various factors, including voter turnout and last-minute campaign efforts. The political landscape remains dynamic as both parties prepare for potential shifts in public sentiment.

The counting process will reveal who gains control over West Bengal’s legislative assembly. As anticipation builds for May 4, all eyes are on how these exit polls will translate into actual results.
