West bengal election results
The West Bengal Assembly election recorded a record turnout of 92.65% in the second phase of polling on April 29, 2026. Total turnout across both phases reached nearly 93%, the highest since Independence.
Polling took place in 142 Assembly seats across seven districts in south Bengal. The highest polling rates were recorded in:
- Purba Bardhaman (93.39%)
- Hooghly (91.41%)
- South 24 Parganas (91.45%)
- North 24 Parganas (91.39%)
- Nadia (91.35%)
The Election Commission of India confirmed these figures following the completion of the polling phases. Counting for the Assembly Elections 2026 will begin on May 4, 2026, at 8:00 AM.
Initial trends are expected to emerge within hours after counting starts. Final results are anticipated by evening on the same day.
This election marks the highest rate of polling in any West Bengal Assembly election since Independence, reflecting increased voter engagement and interest.
