Hyderabad is set to experience extreme heat today, with a maximum temperature of 42°C. There is no chance of rain in the city. Meanwhile, several regions in India face weather alerts for thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for Jammu and Kashmir, Chhattisgarh, and Andhra Pradesh. These areas may experience severe weather conditions, including thunderstorms.

In Jaisalmer, the maximum temperature reached 44.4°C. IMD forecasts a gradual fall in maximum temperatures over Northwest India by 2-3°C until May 5.

From May 3 to 6, scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is likely over Punjab. Thundersqualls with wind speeds reaching 50-60 kmph are expected over West Bengal and Sikkim on May 4 and 5.

The extreme heat in Hyderabad coincides with IPL 2026 matches scheduled at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. The Sunrisers Hyderabad will face the Kolkata Knight Riders amidst these challenging weather conditions.
