Suvendu Adhikari raised allegations of data leaks just hours before the counting of votes in the West Bengal assembly elections. He claims that confidential information regarding counting officials was leaked via WhatsApp.

Adhikari shared WhatsApp chats and spreadsheets as evidence of the leaks. He accused officials of disclosing their election duty information to departmental associations. The leaked information reportedly included officials’ designations and duty locations.

Adhikari called for immediate intervention from the Election Commission and the Chief Electoral Officer. He emphasized the need for a swift investigation into the organizations collecting this sensitive information. He stated, “It has come to my notice that several Officers assigned for Counting Day duties are reportedly disclosing their specific duty details, locations, and designations to their respective departmental organizations and associations.”

He warned that the integrity of the counting process must be ensured before the election results are declared. Adhikari described this incident as extremely serious, urging immediate action from authorities.

The allegations were made just hours before the announcement of the election results. Observers are concerned about how these claims might impact public trust in the electoral process.
