The release of the CUET UG City Intimation Slip on April 29, 2026, has sparked outrage among students in India. Many candidates received notifications assigning them to distant exam cities, raising concerns about travel costs and preparation stress.

Before this development, students expected to be assigned to their preferred exam cities based on their applications. They selected up to four locations during registration. However, the recent slip revealed a different reality.

Approximately 280 cities will host the CUET UG 2026 exam, scheduled from May 11 to May 31. Candidates can download their city intimation slip from cuet.nta.nic.in. Yet, many candidates reported being placed in cities far from their homes.

This logistical burden affects students financially and mentally. One anonymous candidate expressed concern: “I don’t know how a poor student like me will manage the expenses, especially in this extreme heat.” The National Testing Agency (NTA) has stated it will not reschedule exam dates or shifts.

The city intimation slip is crucial for planning travel arrangements ahead of the exam. It helps avoid last-minute confusion for many candidates. However, the current situation has led to numerous student complaints about distance and costs involved.

Experts emphasize that such logistical issues can significantly impact student performance during exams. The NTA’s response may not alleviate the growing frustration among affected candidates.
